Substitutions, Weight Loss, & Lite n’ Easy

Usually I do the week update after the week is actually over, but I figure that I’ve already weighed myself…

While the initial inspiration for doing this program was weight loss, I am finding it to be so much more. I have discovered how much (and how little, in some mind frames) a balanced day’s worth of food is. Because it’s real food, I’m not feeling deprived. In fact, the past couple of mornings I have felt quite full!

So, what some people are really wondering about: Does it actually help you to lose weight?

Yep! This first week I have lost 1.5 kilos/3.4 pounds. While that’s a little higher on the ‘healthy loss per week’ scale, it’s common to lose more weight the first week of almost any change. So I am happy. Of course I am. How could I not be?

The thing that makes me really happy is that I did this with substitutions.

Yep, that’s right. And it’s not cheating, it’s not bad, it’s not naughty. It’s substitution. I refuse to get back into all that kind of negative labelling because that is one of the things that has done my head in in the past.

Substitution one: Proactiv for butter.

Using this helps lower your cholesterol. I haven’t been in for a blood test to see how much help it has given me, but I know people who this has worked for. That’s good enough for me.

Substitution two: Chai latte for afternoon snack.

I love, love, love chai lattes. While I have cut down a lot for the sake of losing weight, going to the pub to drink water isn’t a heap of fun. So, once or twice a week, I will opt to cut out the afternoon snack in favour of a chai latte.

I love how flexible LnE is if you choose to work with it. One of the local government initiatives is ‘don’t stop it – swap it’ in regard to having a healthier life. I think that little motto is working well for me!
